Ahhh, it is my season! Autumn is in it's full, brilliant glory right now. Leaves are falling, days in the low 60's, nights cool and crisp. And today, finally, rain is falling!
I'm so ready for the holiday season and having pushed a whole slew of custom work out in September I get to begin the month with a few days of just happy-making work! Letting my mind wander and take me wherever it wishes to lead me.
The "Ledgerkeepers" writing project is going well too. I upped the daily word count to 1000 and hit it all but once in the last few weeks. Some days nearing 2000 words! Stories are taking shape, the "history" of the Bewildering Pine is rounding into shape and I've been exploring mythologies, folk tales and geography so much more too. I had hoped to have some digital sketches to show but would rather wait until I have a few completed so I can keep them coming at a regular interval.
For now, here are a few of the September creations that came and went thru the shops.
I hope the Autumn season finds you enjoying all it offers in your "neck of the woods". :) And I hope to catch up on blog commenting soon too. This time of year is always so terribly busy in preparation for the holiday rush and with the writing project added, it seems I have so little time for anything but my work these days. . .
Enjoy and, as always, thank you so much for stopping by!

A requested ankh amulet that, once completed, I liked so much that I am going to be offering it in the shop this winter. :) |
|
I adore making these Hecate statues! Just one or two requests a year but I never turn them down. :) |
|
It took me awhile to realize that my gargoyles have been looking more familiar lately. . . then it hit me it is because that face, that smile, is totally JOXER from Xena, Warrior Princess. Oh subconscious, how do you do it? |
|
And I think my Foxgoyles have been coming into their own recently too. Abstracting animals is really a challenge! Simple lines, less fuss. . . better results I think! |
|
A simple place for relaxing and day dreaming! |
|
I'm no classic ancient world sculptor . . . but I loved taking on this Artemis request! Her mighty bow is actually strung with fishing line! |
|
Found these lovely little Patina-glazed tealight holders recently and they are perfect for making little "castle "cupcakes! :) |
|
Fairy Houses Upon Stars abound again this year, of course! |
|
And the newest of the "Little People", a Domovoi Elf (with friends in the background) |
|
I'll be posting an update in a few days about "Alexandra the Great" ( and some great pics of her next to a snail that was her size when we first rescued her from a lake of vinaigrette dressing) but, as you can see, she is thriving and BIG and living in a lovely glass coffee pot these days!! :) |
I am so pleased to see Alexandra the great is alive and thriving! And it is wonderful about all your writing! All your new work is wonderful... Let's see, my favorite would be the potted castle! Your little cupcake like tins do work perfectly.
ReplyDeleteFall is such a creative time I think. I always have so many ideas spilling out when the weather gets crispy!
Oh she's thriving alright! Had a scare a few weeks go when she ate a bunch of wet cardboard and didn't move much or eat a thing for three days after. . . but then she rallied. : ) I was heartbroken thinking I killed her!
DeleteI think you are right about the weather and autumn. . .and also, I think many of us are just still ingrained in that old school year mindset. September is the beginning of the "new year" in that way and I think I always carried that beyond. Having my birthday in autumn helps too though. :)
The Cupcake pots gave me an idea for a series of figurines, anthropomorphic creatures who hail from two far-away lands very much at-odds with each other, Cayke and Pye. Hope to have those soon to show. :)
You always make me smile Nicolas! Your creations always take me to another place! I could sit and stare at them for hours! I remember Xena Warrior Princess! LOL! Keep going on those monkey bars and let me know, when you start tree climbing! So happy Alexandra The Great is doing well! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your sweet words Stacy! I WILL let you know about the tree climbing. My goals is to have a treehouse someday in the future so I want to be able to climb up into it, as when I was a kid, to build it. . . without a ladder! :)
DeleteA tree house would be wonderful! I know you will have it! I would need the ladder! LOL!
Deleteyour art is AMAZING !!
ReplyDeletefairy castle is cutest thing i ever saw,

Best of luck for your each next step towards creativity
Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking time to leave a comment!
DeleteAlexandra!!!!! How lovely she is. Also lovely is your Hecate piece. I have a tattoo of a Hecate wherl so I'm partial. Can't wait to hear more about your world and its stories xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you Nichola! Isn't Alexandra just grand? I've learned more than I though I ever would about garden snails and their likes, dislikes, habits. And being able to actually HEAR her eating/chewing when she is working on a carrot, zucchini or cuttle bone is crazy! Such little teeth she must have!! lol
DeleteHecate is a favorite, for certain! Both in myth and in form. :)
Your new creations never cease to amaze!
ReplyDeleteThank you Louise! I am happy to know my work inspires a bit of wonder and enchantment in such a MAGIK soul as that within yourself. :)
DeleteI'm glad to hear the 'Ledgerkeepers' is progressing well.
ReplyDeleteOne of my sons and I loved watching Xena, the Warrior Princess and Joxer was a favourite of mine. He had a sweet and good heart. That gargoyle smile is SO him! :) Your creations are amazing!
And Alexandra the Great is magnificent! I don't think you could have picked a better name for her. I searched your blog to find the story behind her origins and what a delight it was. It makes me glad to see her still happy, healthy, and thriving.
Have a magical week! :)
